Wednesday Ramblings | Four Winter Reads

As I mentioned in this weeks Sunday Post. There is something about Winter that warrants you to curl up with a good old book and a cup of tea. I am an avid reader and always on the look out for a new book to read. With that in mind I thought I would share with you a couple of hearty books you can sink your teeth too these holidays.

All the boys I have loved before by Jenny Han
I have mentioned this books countless times but this is a great lighter read from the bunch. Jenny Han enraptures the lust and emotions of a teenage girl beautifully in this book. It follows Lara Jean a middle child who suddenly finds all the love letters she has written to crushes past have been found and delivered to the unintended recipient.

It is a heartfelt, light read. Jenny Han has a way of making you fall in love with each character. Han also manages to turn what could be a very predictable story in to a story which has an unexpected end.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Unless you have been living under a rock you would have herd of the film Gone Girl which is based on this book by Gillian Flynn. I read this book back in August and literally could not put it down. Every time I managed to find a spare 5 minutes my nose was in this book. It is a psychological thriller where a man is accused of killing his wife. It is full of twists and turns. I had not seen the film before hand and was absolutely hooked. The ending had me in shock.

Isla and The Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
There is no way of getting around this, Isla and the Happily Ever After is the ultimate love story. It takes place is the most cities such as Paris and New York. It follows the love story of Isla and Jake who are in their final year of college. While paving their future, their love deepens and this story encapsulates this.

Stephanie Perkins knows how to write a passionate affectionate love story and I cannot wait to read more.

Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher
In a world where we find reality TV at all time high, this is a little insight in to how the world of tabloid journalism and celebrity gossip. It follows small town girl Sophie Mae and Rockstar Billy. Sophie is a private girl and after Billy takes an interest her, she finds her secrets being spilled out for all to see and read.

Giovanna's debut novel showcases her writing perfectly. I related to Sophia Mae on a lot of levels throughout the book.

Rebels Angels by Libba Bray
If you like reading a book with female protagonists, this is one for you. It is set in a boarding school and centres around four girls who have the gateway to this other world. Set in Victorian London at a time where women lived a certain way of life, we see how in fact, behind the scenes there was more than met the eye.

This is a trilogy and one I first read when I was 15. It has stayed on my book shelf and been re0read countless time since then.

Each of these books are special to me. They are not new but each one brings me wonderful memories and I hope they do the same for you.
