This August saw MAC launch a new collection that I knew I would need. Their matte collection which included lipstick versions of their most coveted lip pencils. I have already mentioned Stone on the blog before but after falling in love with the formula, I decided to grab two more from the collection. D is for Danger and Whirl.
D is for Danger is what I described in my September Favourites video as being the ‘Nafisah’ shade. It is a deep berry toned shade, perfect for winter. The hint of purple hues in this is what drew to me to it. Many of the deeper shades run with red undertones which I also love and gravitate towards but it was nice to see something different.
The other one I purchased was completely on impulse and that was the shade Whirl. Nude shades can sometimes wash me out and while I know Whirl would be a best seller, it is a shade I knew I would need to look at in person to see if it suited my complexion. While I was at the stand the makeup artist who helped me was actually the same complexion as me and raved about it. She swatched it and I was immediately in love. It is a brown toned nude which I prefer as I know it will not wash me out. My main reason for being attracted to Whirl is because it is light enough to not be offensive. I own very few light everyday lipsticks.
The formula is very comfortable. They are incredibly long lasting. I do wear them with lip liners underneath but I can go to work and not worries about my lips looking like a colossal mess come 5.30pm. They remind me of the reason I fell in love with MAC lipsticks to begin with.
Both D for Danger and Whirl have been constantly on my lips since I bought them roughly a month – six weeks ago. I am wearing Whirl right now as I am typing this. I own a lot of lipsticks from a variety of brands both high end and low end. They still excite me and I love creating a new lip look every day but it has been a while since I have this excited and stayed this exclusive to one type of lipstick for this length of time.
