Wednesday Ramblings | Long Hair Don't Care

Dove Shampoo and Dove Conditioner
For those of you who may not know, I have long hair, like seriously out of control long hair. It comes just above my belly button. When my hair gets to this stage it means two things 1 - I need to look after it a bit more and 2 - it is time for me to hit the salon.

As it has been a while since I have chatted about all things Hair, I thought I would share how I try to take care of it when it gets unruly.

Pre Shower Treatment mask
Using a hair product before you get in the shower is something that makes a huge difference in my hair and the texture. I am currently using the Charles Worthington mask which I have soken about before. The idea is that you apply the product in and wait for 10 minutes before you get in the shower. I will admit, it use to seem like a lot of work but it really does not take up any extra time. i usually apply a little on the end of my hair, put it up in a clip and then get ready for the shower by this time 10 minutes have passed quite fast.

Use the right Shampoo and Conditioner
So when it comes to Shampoo and Conditioner, I use to be very very fickle and just pick up any that was on offer. That does not mean you have to spend a fortune on shampoo it doesn't. It just means try out a few brands and see which ones work well for your hair. my sister and I found the new Dove line along with the Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo really make a difference to our hair.

Leave in Conditioner\ Dry oil
Ever since I have bared witness to the miracles that hair oils can do for untamed and unruly hair I have not stopped singing its praises. I am currently batik battling my way through the Dove Hair Pure Care Oil Nourishing Treatment (this sucker had lasted me a very long time) I would suggest something along the lines of oils containing Argon Oil, Coconut Oil or Macadamia Oil. All three are rich and nouriching on the the hair while leaving your hair feeling light and not wearing it down.

Let your hair loose
90% of the time I am wearing a headscarf which means my hair is tied back. This can be quite damaging for the scalp and hair folicals so what I try and do is leave my hair loose. That is easier said done when you want to relax and have your hair out of the way. The ways I have combated is is by using the Scunci hair clip which loosely keeps my hair in my place or a light braid.

Having long hair is a frustrating beautiful journey and I definitely fell out of love with it for a while. These changes made me fall back in love with it.
