Make Up Monday | Back to school look

Back to school
Nafisah Atcha
It is back to school season and with that I thought I would share a fresh face make up look I wear on days when I don't want to wear a lot on my face but still look presentable. The best part of this look is that you don't just have to wear this look for school. It is something you can wear to work or college or just to spend some time with friends too.

My base is low key and the first thing I do is apply my Laura Mercier Foundation Primer*. You can skip this step if you want too but this is really hydrating so I like using it. Then it is time for concealing. Usually I just use my Urban Decay Weightless Coverage Concealer under my eyes but as my base is quite light I applied some in the areas that are red (usually my nose) to balance everything out.

I decided for this look to go with a tinted moisturiser in the form of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Gel. This is just a lightweight base that helps to even out your skin tone. I use the shade Ginger which I love for the Yellow undertones in my skin.

To bronze up my skin I went in with the Maybelline Master sculpt kit. I absolutely love this drugstore gem. I have the shade light to medium for a subtle bronze and it works beautifully.

I kept this quite matte and simple with this eye look using two of my favourite palettes. The first one comes from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and is the shade Salted Caramel which is my favourite brown shadow and I go in with it all over the lids. Then in the crease to add some depth I go with the shade Milk Chocolate to help add depth and definition to my lids and make me look awake.

You could just keep it there but I need some slight shimmer so I got out my Urban Decay Smoky Palette* and used the shade high which is just a light shimmer. It is a very slight shimmer so it is perfect if you are still getting use to shimmer or need some shimmer but nothing too intense. You can also use use your highlighter if you wanted too.

To finish off the look I went in with my Gosh Liner in Brown. Black liner can be lightly overpowering when you want to look fresh face but a brown liner still adds depth to the look but slightly softer. This one actually stings my eyes a little when I apply it but once it dries the chocolate brown looks really nice. I also use my Loreal Feline Mascara which gives my lashes the curls I want. The volume this mascara gives is not dramatic and too thick perfect for the day or if you prefer length over volume.

Cheeks and Lips
The idea of the fresh school look is to keep things subtle. I used my Sleek Creme to Powder blush in French Peach which is perfect on Olive skin tones. This is highly pigmented so I used the smallest amount.

A fresh back to school look needs some highlight and I used a small dusting of my TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer. This is a gold highlight to add some glow to your complexion. I apply it on the cheeks and the bridge of my nose.

For lips I went for a Kylie Jenner Mauve shade by mixing Gosh Lip Liner in Rose Antique with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama. I have raved about this pairing before. It is probably my more 'daytime' lipstick. If you are at school NARS Bahama on it's own is a good way to go as it is more neutral and less apparent.

Yes the brows need their own category. I first filled them with my Illamasqua precision brow gel in the shade Stare. I then combed them through and used the Loreal Brow Artist Plumper to make sure they stay in place.

That is the look complete. Does not take too much time, stays on all day and allows you to look healthy and complete without applying too much make up.
