Winter is here and I usually find that it often comes with more experimentation when it comes to make up. Maybe it is the party season or just the colder weather holding our make up better. It is one of the reasons I love the season.
The other thing that is important, is looking after your skin. Winter brings it's own set of problems and one way to keep on top of that is to make sure you take your make up properly and have an evening skincare routine place so before I bore your faces with make up looks I have been trying out lately I thought I would show you all my evening routine.
The make up removal
I use two things to break down my make up. The first is an eye make up remover and my ultimate favourite is
The Body Shop Camomile Eye make up remover. At £8:00 it rivals some high end make up removers. I have been using this on and off for over a year now and have yet to find something at that price good enough to replace it.
For the rest of my make up I use a micellar water solution. I've bung on about the
Garnier Micellar Water Solution numerous times before so I will keep it brief. No matter your skin type this right here is your best friend. Forget your make up wipes and use this to remove your make up as a pre cleanse. It feels and works like magic.
The cleanse
Now to really cleanse the face I am still using the
Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm. It is soft and hydrating making it perfect for those of you with sensitive skin but also those who have dry skin. It is perfect during the winter as my skin is usually tight and this is not stripping. In face it helps release the tension and tightness the cold can bring to the face.
The middle
Then I go in with my
Vichy Idealia eye cream. I've recently talked about it here and in my October Favourites so let me just say, if you have yet to find an eye cream that works. This is your best bet. I dab the smallest amount using my middle finger for some good hydration. If you're planning some late nights and early nights, this is perfect. I don't always get the sleep I need and this works a dream.
After that it is time for my serum. I have been using the
Khiels Hydra- plumping re-texturising concentrate. It is light weight, not tacky on your skin. The reason I am loving this at the moment is because I noticed a difference in my skin. It is much more clearer and brighter and just over all looks healthier since I have been using this morning and evening.
Moisturise
The end to every routine should be a moisturiser. I recently have been using the
Vichy Idealia Smoothing and Illuminating cream which I like. It isn't my favourite as it is quite heavy and I like a moisturiser I could both in the day under my make up and the evening. It does the job and if you have really dehydrated skin this is great to use in the evenings. I wake up with soft skin when I wear this.
And that is my current winter skincare routine in a nutshell. I do have some masks I use but I have ran out of those so once I replace them you can expect a post. All of this usually takes me a quick 5 minutes in the bathroom. It is well worth doing and taking the time out for. I find it rather therapeutic and relaxing after a long day!
