Make up Monday | Experimenting with coloured mascara

July seems to be the month of me embracing different colours when it come to make up so I decided to strike while the mood lasts and try out some coloured mascara. I have been wanting to do it for a while and it is something my best friend put on my radar but I only just gave it a go and I have to say so far I like it.

I have been using the essence colour flash volume mascara* which comes in 4 shades I think. I wasn't sure how I would look with them especially the teal and red shade (both of which are beautiful) as they look quite bright in the tube but I have to say they are subtle in an incredibly stunning way.

The pigment in them is very natural so you can wear it during the day if you want as in the dark it really just looks like your average mascara giving you nice full lashes and in the light you get the hints of colour which is really flattering.

In terms of intensity I wouldn't say any of these shades from the range are very intense so it is perfect for those of you who want to test out the waters and see what it would look like on you. I found that the colour can mainly be seen on the tips of my lashes but I have a feeling that is because my lashes are quite a dark black so that is something to bare in mind.

The application of these are really nice and easy to work with. The wand gives you volume without the big brush making it less likely that you will end up with mascara smudges everywhere while the colour adds something extra to your look.

What do you think? will you be giving colour mascara a go this summer? For roughly £3.00 it is worth a shot.

Lots of love
