Make up Monday - The interview edit

Hey lovelies, hope you all have a wonderful new week. For todays make up Monday I thought I would share a look I have had to wear a lot recently.

If you have recently graduated or inbetween jobs chances are you will have to attend lots of interviews. Interviews themselves can be quite daunting (I can do another post on this if you want - let me know) but alongside that one of the things I found I had to adjust a little bit was my make up.

When you go to an interview you do not know much about the person who will be interviewing you. The jobs I have gone for have been in digital media and marketing and the companies varied from being slightly laid back to being more formal. Either way first impressions can be hard to nail.

I like wearing make up but I had to make some changes. Here is what I went for.

After applying my regular base of Laura Mercier Radiance primer and NARS tinted moisturiser I work on the cheeks. My base is quite natural and light so it doesn't look cakey.

Keeping with the natural theme I go for a cream blush which applies naturally and doesn't appear cakey. My favourite at the moment are the Max Factor Miracle Touch. I need more shades in this. If you are looking for a good budget blush look no further.

Then for the eyes just a bit of felt tip liner but I do not wing it out. My go to is Soap & Glory supercat liner. It takes me like no time to apply it and is smudge proof. If you want to apply colour on your lids then a very natural colour is something you should go towards.

Now lipstick is where I struggle the most. I love a bold lip and wear them a lot during the day. The problem is for interviews it is not always appropriate. If you have a nude shade that works well for you I would suggest wearing that on the day but I haven't found the perfect nude to go with my skin tone. My go to lipstick at the moment for situations like these is MAC Fast Play which is a good neutral but not nude shade.

Remember you want the person to focus on what you are saying not the way you look. Keep it natural but elegant and most importantly you need to feel comfortable and yourself.

If you are reading and going to an interview sometime soon good luck!
