Hi everyone, you've probably realised this is not the standard food or fashion Friday post. The reason for that is I want to talk to you about something a bit more important.
I want to talk to you about body image and an organisation called Body Gossip. Body Gossip is a campaign and education program combating people's perception of body and self esteem.
They get the public involved by asking them to send their stories on body image. These stories then get performed on stage by a celebrity cast which includes Natalie Cassidy, Shobna Gulati and Gok Wan to name a few.
The reason I like Body Gossip is that they want people to realise that the little faults in ourselves that we see, others do not. I really like the way they promote people to be the best version of themselves and not try and fit other peoples mould of how they should be.
Body image is an issue close to me. It affects everyone, man, woman, girl or boy. Even the most popular girl in school could be suffering from something like body dysmorphia.
Today Body Gossip is holding a flash mob at 1pm and every single one of us can take part from the comfort of our own homes.
It's really simple you print off a template of the love heart from their website and write the thing you like most about your body in the middle.
If you don't have a printer you can always draw one on a piece of paper like I have. You then upload it to twitter and tag
@_bodygossip in the tweet for everyone to see.
It is all about focusing on positive rather than the negative.
You can find out more from their website
here.
What do you guys think? Will you be joining in?
Lots of love
Nafisah
