If you have a friend who is graduating in the next few months you will probably find them stressing out about some scary part of their life known as the future. It is the time of year that they will be worrying about what next steps to take. How do i know this? I am going through the exact same thing right now. There are so many crazy ideas and thing i want to do with my life going around in my head. This is not unnatural at all lots of people will be going through the same thing across the world. We have been building up these past three years aiming for a qualification in order for us to achieve our dreams.
The reality? it is not as easy as that. Not in the slightest. In most industries you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. The way our economy is at the moment (thanks for that by the way George Osbourne) chances are we are going to go through a time of unemployment while trying to achieve these dreams in the long run.
I need to take my own advice sometimes and this is something which i have been thinking about as i am writing this post. There is no problem in working part time while you try and figure out what to do. It might not be glamorous but it will be a start and will give you experience which you can use later on in aspects of your life. Also, take a break, there is nothing wrong with coming out of education and needing a holiday. Just remember that it is a holiday and while you are figuring yourself out as a person it will become apparent what you want to do with your life.
I think people automatically assume we will know exactly what we want to do and things will just fix in to place and in some exceptional cases this does happen but for others it takes time and a lot of thinking and learning about the world for this to happen. The key is to not give up and this is something which is hard to do sometimes.
I am going to leave you all with this quote i think is relevant, it is about dreams and ambitions and wanting to make them happen.
